[slurm-users] "slurmd -C" reduce by xx GB or yy %

as far as I understand it's good practice to lower the RealMemory value reported by slurmd -C by a given amount of GB or by percentage.What's the best approach to calculate a given target value, for different HW types?
I was also wondering if there's a setting within Slurm itself, to reserve yy % of memory for the OS instead of jobs - is such a configuration available?
