<div class="">Dear all,</div>
<div class="">I have an account on a computer cluster with slurm. In theory, my account comes with a finite number of hours. However, it seems that computed hours are not taken into account by slurm:</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<blockquote style="margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;" class="">
<div class="">$squota</div>
<div class="">Account Usage Quota Available</div>
<div class="">user-high 50 10000 99950</div>
<div class="">user-low 301 200000 199699</div>
</blockquote>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Then run a job with script run.slurm</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<blockquote style="margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;" class="">
<div class="">#!/bin/sh</div>
<div class="">#SBATCH --time=24:00:00</div>
<div class="">#SBATCH --partition=short</div>
<div class="">#SBATCH --nodes=1</div>
<div class="">
<div class="">#SBATCH --ntasks-per-node=1</div>
</div>
<div class="">time ./code.o</div>

<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">and execute </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<blockquote style="margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;" class="">
<div class="">$sbatch run.slurm</div>
</blockquote>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The job completes succesfully:</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<blockquote style="margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;" class="">
<div class="">$cat slurm-xxxxx.out </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">code completed</div>
<div class="">user 164m59.712s</div>
<div class="">….</div>
</blockquote>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">and here is what I get if I check the quota after the job run</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<blockquote style="margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;" class="">
<div class="">
<blockquote style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; border: none; padding: 0px;" class="">
<div class="">$squota</div>

<div class="">user-low 301 200000 199699</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>

<div class="">The time unit in squota is hours, and I have checked that squota does not change also for way longer jobs, and that it does not change even if I wait several weeks after the job has finished. </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Do you think that the scheduler is not taking account of the hours that I consume, i.e., that I can use as many hours as I want? </div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Thank you.</div>
